Electromagnetic Flow Meter As Per CWBA Guide Line
The Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) has laid out specific guidelines for Digital Water Flow Meters with Telemetry to monitor groundwater extraction. Let’s delve into the technical specifications:
Metering Technology:
Choose either Ultrasonic or Electromagnetic flow meters.
Communication type options include LAN (for internet connectivity) or LoRa WAN and/or Cellular (GPRS / 3G / 4G).
Ensure tamper-proof features:
Power Source: The meter should be battery-operated or powered by a UPS with power-off detection. Telemetry system units must also have a reliable power source.
Sealing: Mechanical and electronic sealing (through software) should prevent unauthorized access.
Compliance: Preferably manufactured as per ISO 4064:2014 Standards with IP68 ingress protection.
Accuracy: Better than ±2% for the operating flow range (from 10% to 100% of maximum flow rate).
Test Certificate: The manufacturer must submit the latest test/calibration certificate from accredited laboratories.
Parameters to Monitor:
Timestamp
Cumulative forward flow volume
Cumulative reverse flow volume
Cumulative net volume
Cumulative pump working hours
Meter serial number
Device last calibration date
Borewell ID (Provided by CGWA)
Cloud Integration:
Communication/telemetry data should be directly captured in a secure cloud.
The cloud service provider must be empaneled with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Transmission Frequency: Data transmitted at least twice daily.
Battery Life: Battery-operated meters should run for at least 3 years with 2 transmissions per day.
Data Acquisition: Complete AMR/AMI system with cloud-based Data Management Software.
Flow Meter Specifications:
Turndown ratio of 10 or above.
Accuracy: ±2%.
Technology options: electromagnetic or ultrasonic.
Available Sizes:
DN40 (Flow range: 0.5 lps to 5 lps)
DN100 (Flow range: 3 lps to 30 lps)
DN150 (Flow range: 13 lps to 130 lps)
Meter performance remains unaffected by external magnetic fields.
