Electromagnetic Technology.
The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has established guidelines for monitoring groundwater extraction, and one of the key requirements is the installation of Digital Water Flow Meters with Telemetry.
Metering Technology:
The flow meter should use either ultrasonic or electromagnetic technology.
It must be tamper-proof and adhere to ISO 4064:2014 Standards.
The accuracy should be better than ±2% within the operating flow range (from 10% to 100% of maximum flow rate).
Telemetry System:
The meter should transmit data to a secure cloud via one of the following communication methods:
LAN (for internet connectivity)
LoRa WAN
Cellular (GPRS/3G/4G)
The telemetry system units can be battery-operated or externally powered.
Even if the telemetry system is off due to power failure, the meter should store data.
Mechanical and electronic sealing (through software) should prevent unauthorized access.
The telemetry data should include:
Timestamp
Cumulative forward flow volume
Cumulative reverse flow volume
Cumulative net volume
Cumulative pump working hours
Meter serial number
Device last calibration date
Borewell ID (provided by CGWB)
Battery Life and Data Transmission:
Battery-operated meters should run for at least 3 years with minimum 2 transmissions per day.
Batteries should be replaceable without data loss.
The complete AMR/AMI system with Data Management Software is essential.
The software should be cloud-based, accessible via a web portal, and capable of running on a standard PC.
Compliance and Reporting:
The telemetry data should be directly captured in a secure cloud registered with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Users seeking No Objection Certificates (NOCs) must install these meters and report their installation within 30 days through the CGWB web portal
